Whitley County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Heritage Day Saturday, Oct. 1
After an absence of several years due largely to the pandemic, the Whitley County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Heritage Day is back this year.
It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the old railroad depot, which is located at the intersection of Main Street and the railroad crossing in Williamsburg.
The day will feature museum tours, crafts, local history, model trains and food for sale.
In addition, there will be numerous stories told as people recollect an earlier time, and check out a number of exhibits inside the museum in addition to its genealogy room.
This is the first time that the event has been held since 2019.
The Whitley County Historical and Genealogical Society Inc. was founded on Oct. 3, 1996, with 16 charter members. Its hours are Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Saturday’s from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. It’s meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
The society’s primary mission is the preservation of the county’s history for future generations of Whitley Countians.
