Whitley County Fiscal Court accepts final excess fees from clerk
The Whitley County Fiscal Court accepted a $20,985.09 payment of excess fees from 2021 from the Whitley County Clerk’s Office during its July 19 regular monthly meeting.
In February, the clerk’s office presented the fiscal court with $300,000 partial payment of excess fees from 2021, which officials noted at the time might be a record amount in Whitley County.
At the end of the calendar year, the Whitley County Clerk’s Office turns over any fees in excess of what had been budgeted to the fiscal court.
Whitley County Judge-Executive Pat White Jr. noted that the county finished last fiscal year, which ended on June 30, with a budget surplus in all accounts, which is a good way to start the new fiscal year on July 1.
“We started off what seems to be a good budget that will allow us to do some good projects this coming year,” White added.
The new budget includes no pay raises for employees, but they will still continue to receive COVID-19 premium pay.
In other business, the fiscal court:
- Approved the Whitley County Detention Center’s policy and procedures manual.
- Accepted petitions to adopt Amy Lane and Gorman Bonnie Lane into the county road system.
- Approved a petition to close a section of the Old Savoy Road.
- Approved the Whitley County Sheriff’s quarterly report for the second quarter of 2022.
