West Knox Volunteer Fire Rescue welcomes new chief

After 12 years as chief of the West Knox Volunteer Fire Rescue, Darryl Baker is turning over leadership of the department to Amos Moses.

“As some may have heard, I decided that after 12 years of being Chief, that it was time for me to retire as Chief,” wrote Baker in a Facebook post on the department’s page. “I have no plans of slowing down at the fire department. I just wanted to step back a little and let some of the other qualified people have a chance to lead our department.”

In the post, Baker describes Moses as, “an incredible asset,” and said he has no doubt the department will continue to grow under his leadership.

“I would like to thank my fire department for the support they have always given me,” said Baker.

He attributed the department’s success to the firefighters that work there.

“We have prospered because I have always included our firefighters in my decisions,” said Baker. “Thirty plus minds are always better than one mind. And even though I get given the credit for our department being such a good department, I would be quick to correct that by saying, ‘It’s all of us! I could not do this alone!’.”
