WC Colonel Players announce upcoming performance of ‘The Anatomy of Gray’
The Whitley County Colonel Players will perform The Anatomy of Gray, written by Jim Leonard Jr., produced by Samuel French and directed by David Sweet.
The performance will take place on November 1 and 2, at the Whitley High School Cafeteria at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.
“We have been working on this show for several weeks,” Sweet said. “This show has everything for an audience: it’s happy, it’s sad, it has a deeper message. If you liked our show Digging Up the Boys from last year, you will really like this show too.”
Anatomy of Gray is set in the 1880s in Gray, Indiana. Fifteen-year-old June Muldoon (WCHS student Hannah Schneider) writes a letter to God asking for a doctor after her father’s death, a play that will have you tearing up from laughter and empathy, The Anatomy of Gray is sure to leave you wanting more.
“We want to invite everyone because the proceeds from ticket sales will support us with expenses as we travel to Regional and, hopefully, State competition,” Sweet said. “We want everyone to come and support our students and their very hard work.”
Another performance will be held at Madison Southern High School at 10 a.m. on Nov. 3, for the Eastern Kentucky Regional Theater Competition to compete at State Competition in Madisonville on Nov. 17.
According to Sweet, seven schools from Eastern Kentucky will compete at the Regional Competition. Up to 15 schools compete at state. Each school has 45 minutes to take a performance from bare stage, performed with full cast and set, and then back to bare stage. Any performances with time over 45 minutes are disqualified.
