W’burg woman arrested for indecent exposure, public intoxication

Kimberly Lawson is charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication.

A Williamsburg woman is behind bars after allegedly walking around outside naked and then trying to run from police late Thursday afternoon.

Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Hensley charged Kimberly R. Lawson, 34, of Mt. Morgan Road, with indecent exposure, public intoxication, second-degree fleeing or evading police and third-degree criminal mischief.

She was arrested about 5:16 p.m. on River Road near Williamsburg.

Hensley and Deputy Johnny Miller responded to the area to investigate a report about a naked woman walking through yards, according to Lawson’s arrest citation.

Hensley found Lawson “completely naked” in one of the back yards and she appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, according to her arrest citation.

When Lawson saw Hensley, she allegedly took off running through a thicket and two backyards as Hensley yelled, “Stop sheriff’s department,” Hensley wrote on the citation.

After Hensley caught Lawson, she allegedly kicked the rear seat camera in his police cruiser breaking the straps, her arrest citation stated.

Lawson pleaded not guilty to the charges during her arraignment Monday morning before Whitley District Judge Fred White.

White set a Sept. 18 pre-trial conference in her case, and a $1,000 cash bond.

Hensley also served Lawson with a bench warrant Thursday from a 2017 traffic case where she was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license and for having no automobile insurance.

She pleaded guilty to those charges Monday, and White sentenced her to a probated 90-day jail sentence and a $125 fine plus court costs.
