W’burg Turkey Trot raises $15k for Shop with a Cop

A total of 234 people finished the 14th Annual Williamsburg Turkey Trot 5-K.
Nearly 300 people turned out in downtown Williamsburg on a very cool Thanksgiving Day morning to help raise money so less fortunate children could have a better Christmas this year.
The 14th Annual Williamsburg Turkey Trot 5-K run/walk featured a record number of participants, and helped the Williamsburg Police Department reach its goal of $15,000 raised for the Shop with a Cop program this year.

Walter Peavley was the overall winner.
This will enable officers to take 150 less fortunate children on $100 Christmas shopping sprees at the Williamsburg Walmart on Dec. 16.
“From the sponsorships and these registrations, we have met our goal,” said Mayor Roddy Harrison.
“Words can’t describe it. These people will come out if you do something for kids. With the year that we had with Covid, this is special,” Harrison added trying to choke back tears Thanksgiving morning.
The previous record attendance for the Williamsburg Turkey Trot came in 2019 and was listed at 287 people having signed up for the race, but Harrison said he thinks organizers overestimated the participation that year.
The final count this year was nearly 284 people registered, and 234 race finishers.
Harrison said having a record or near record crowd this year just topped off an already great day.

Neavah Warren was the first place female finisher.
“It is like icing on the cake,” Harrison said commending the work of the Turkey Trot Planning Committee.
The overall winner of this year’s race was Walter Peavley, who finished with a time of 18:48.
Samuel Golden took second place with a time of 19:00 followed by Bryce Griffith, who had a time of 19:18.
Neavah Warren was the top female finisher with a time of 22:16. Samantha Hurst was the second place female finisher with a time of 23:56 followed by Aspen Fain with a time of 24:37.
