W’burg police recover stolen Jellico vehicle

Jamie Hoover was arrested Sept. 26 in connection with a stolen vehicle.

A Jellico man, who was arrested for receiving stolen property last week in Whitley County in connection with a stolen UTV vehicle, has agreed to waive extradition back to Tennessee in connection with a separate theft case.

Jamie Hoover, 26, was served with a fugitive warrant shortly after noon Monday in connection with a Sept. 1 theft over $10,000 charge from Campbell County, Tennessee.

During a Whitley District Court appearance Monday afternoon before Whitley Judge Fred White, Hoover agreed to waive extradition to Tennessee.

Hoover had been incarcerated in the Whitley County Detention Center since his arrest last week.

About 2 p.m. on Sept. 26, Jellico Police Chief Chris Anderson and Assistant Chief J.J. Hatmaker contacted Williamsburg police in reference to a stolen 2017 Polaris side-by-side UTV that was taken from Jellico, Tennessee on Sept. 24.

Jellico police received information that the vehicle was located at 672 Sukey Hollow Road, and that the suspect was attempting to sell the vehicle, according to a Williamsburg Police Department release.

Detective Bobby Freeman went to the residence, observed Hoover riding in the vehicle and arrested him for receiving stolen property over $10,000, according to an arrest citation.

Freeman also served Hoover with three active Whitley County warrants for contempt of court.

Hoover was arrested without incident and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $7,500 cash bond in the receiving stolen property case.

Hoover has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Hoover also has cash bonds totaling $644 in the three contempt of court cases, according to the detention center’s website.

Anderson and Hatmaker assisted Freeman at the scene.
