W’burg native being inducted into Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame (KEHOF)
A Williamsburg native is being inducted into the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame (KEHOF) on Wednesday, Nov. 16, during a ceremony that will take place in downtown Louisville.
The Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame is a physical and virtual destination that shares and celebrates the stories of Kentucky’s most successful entrepreneurs.
“Our mission is to raise awareness of the impact that entrepreneurship has made in the Commonwealth and encourage others to pursue similar ambitious endeavors,” the group wrote on its website.
Michael Mountjoy, who graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1968, is one of four people being inducted along with J.D. Nichols, chairman of NTS Development Company; James S. “Chip” Mahan III, founder, chairman and CEO of Live Oak Bancshares; and Lois Howard Gray, who is being honored posthumously as co-founder of Gray Construction.
Mountjoy is a founding partner of MCM CPAs & Advisors, which is a firm that has grown to be the largest CPA firm headquartered in Kentucky. MCM now has six offices throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Mountjoy has been active in the accounting world at both the state and national level, serving as president of the Kentucky Society of CPAs and serving on the board of the American Institute of CPAs.
He has served in numerous local leadership roles throughout his career. He is the former Chair of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce and The Community Foundation.
Currently, he serves as chair of the Gheens Foundation and as trustee at the University of the Cumberlands.
Mountjoy is an active investor in several start-up ventures. He has invested in commercial real estate, the hospitality industry, and is a co-founder of Soccer Holdings, LLC, the local ownership group of Louisville’s professional soccer teams.
Mountjoy spends his free time with his wife, Carolyn Mountjoy, as well as his four children and 12 grandchildren.
The ceremony will also honor 2022 emerging entrepreneurs, mentor of the year, investor of the year and executive of the year.
