W’burg man admits to abusing child multiple times
A Williamsburg man admitted Friday morning to abusing his 5-year-old daughter.
Twenty-five-year-old Skyler Wilson is facing 45 counts of first-degree criminal abuse and one count of fourth-degree assault.
According to Trooper Shane Jacobs, public affairs officer at Post 10 in Harlan, Trooper Jake Wilson began and investigation after the child’s mother brought her into the emergency room at Baptist Health Corbin for treatment of her injuries.
“The small child had multiple bruises, cuts and scabs from the abuse that covered her body,” Jacobs stated.
Jacobs stated that Wilson located Skyler Wilson about 7:30 a.m. in Williamsburg and conducted an interview.
“Mr. (Skyler) Wilson admitted to abusing his child and was arrested by Tpr. Wilson,” Jacobs stated, noting Skyler Wilson said he would pinch and/or squeeze the girl and discipline for lying to him.
Wilson and the mother are separated. Jacobs said Skyler Wilson has had custody of the girl for the last 45 days, but had contacted the mother to come and get the child, saying that she could likely better provide for the child than he was able.
When the mother picked up the child, she went straight to the hospital. Social services was contacted, who, in turn, contacted state police.
Skyler Wilson is being held without bond in the Knox County Detention Center.
Jail staff said Skyler Wilson is declining to speak with the media.
No court date has yet been set.
