W’burg Kiwanis will celebrate 35 years Thurs.
The Williamsburg Kiwanis Club is inviting all current and former members to attend its 35th anniversary celebration at noon Thursday at the Cumberland Inn.
“We’re inviting all the old presidents back and old members back. We are going to celebrate 35 years of Kiwanis,” said Williamsburg Kiwanis Club President Alvin Sharpe. “We would just like for everyone to come out and we would also like to invite any perspective members to join the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club. Our purpose is to help young people in Williamsburg and the surrounding area.”
The keynote speakers for the event will be Kentucky/Tennessee Kiwanis Governor Chuck Fletcher, Vice-Governor Dale Hawkins and Governor-Elect Leigh Chagnon.
Other honored guests include members of the Corbin Kiwanis Club, who were instrumental in establishing the Williamsburg club, which was chartered on June 4, 1981.
Thursday’s celebration will include a PowerPoint presentation on the history of the club.
The club will provide cake and beverages Thursday.
All attendees interested in having lunch (self pay/tip not included) are directed to call the Patriot Steakhouse 539-4105 and place an order between 11:30 – 11:50 a.m. Food will be delivered to the conference room.
Sharpe added that if the Williamsburg club can get about five new members then it will have the largest growth in membership of any club in Kentucky and Tennessee, if not out of all of the southeastern United States.
