W’burg City Hall reopens to the public

Williamsburg City Hall is now back open to the public, but if you don’t want to get out of your car in this heat, then you can still do the bulk of your city business at the drive-thru window for the water department.

Mayor Roddy Harrison said that the city put up signs on city hall doors Friday afternoon noting the building would open again starting Monday.

So far, the city hasn’t broadcast that fact.

Harrison described it as the equivalent of a “soft opening” for a new business.

“We are just kind of quietly opened right now,” he said. “We never did have a complaint. People were gracious and went through the drive-thru.”

Williamsburg City Hall has been closed to the public since March 23 due to COVID-19.

The city had initially planned to reopen on June 15, but postponed that re-opening because of a delay in getting needed materials, which were scarce, in order to make it COVID-19 compliant.

Those entering city hall must have their temperature taken and answer a three-question health screening.
