W’burg Christmas Parade set for Saturday evening

There will be plenty of holiday related activities this weekend in Williamsburg to get you in the mood for Christmas, including a Christmas bazaar, a Christmas parade and a Christmas concert.

The Second Annual Williamsburg Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The cost for the first table will be $10 and each additional table will be $5. Proceeds will benefit Shop with a Cop.

The bazaar usually features a lot of handmade craft items.

The annual Christmas parade will take place starting at 6 p.m. Saturday starting at Williamsburg City School. The parade route will go down Main Street ending at the courthouse.

There will be Christmas caroling in Bill Woods Park and free apple cider and hot chocolate after the parade.

Also after the parade, the annual town ornament exchange will take place in Bill Woods Park.

Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison said participants can bring an ornament, which is placed in a brown paper bag, and before they leave, they take an ornament with them.

In addition, that evening at Bill Woods Park people can place a memorial ornament on the town Christmas tree in honor of a deceased friend or relative.

Harrison said that after Christmas the memorial ornaments are collected and saved to put back up on the tree the following year.

On Sunday, Williamsburg Independent School will present its “Christmas in a Small Town” celebration.

The event will begin with a chili dinner from noon – 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per person.

Also, there will be a silent auction that starts at noon and ends after the concert, along with various crafts, gifts and baked goods for sale.

In addition, Santa will be there.

At 2:30 p.m., the elementary and high school choirs and bands will hold a free concert in the J.B. Mountjoy Gymnasium.
