W’burg Chili Cookoff winners announced

Sandy Canada hands out some of her homemade chili during the Fifth Annual Williamsburg Chili Cookoff Saturday.
The Fifth Annual Williamsburg Chili Cookoff is all over – except for maybe the heartburn – and the winners have been announced.
In the category of best home-style chili, Ron Butterfield took home the People’s Choice Award and Gail Elias took home the Judge’s Choice Award.
In the category of best traditional chili, Betty Rains took home the People’s Choice Award and Kay Martin took home the Judge’s Choice Award.
Traditional chili has no beans and home-style chili has beans.
Each winner received a $100 cash prize.
There were nine participants in this year’s contest compared to six participants last year.
“Congratulations to all the winners,” said Williamsburg Main Street Manager Nannie Hays.

The Tad Paddle bluegrass band entertained the crowd during the chili cookoff.
The contest was held Saturday afternoon at the Williamsburg Civic Center during the Williamsburg Community Yard Sale.
