WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR
I hate to see the end of football season come. It has become my favorite team of the year. I’ve become a football fan over the last ten years.
As a student in school I only played football in junior high. I had a better liking for basketball and baseball in high school.
The three Whitley County teams I give my attention to had much better teams than many gave them credit for.
Corbin of course, went all the way to the state semifinal round before losing to Newport Catholic last week. I was surprised to see how big of a line the Thoroughbreds had. I don’t think I have ever seen a line that tall. No wonder why Ty Cobb had a hard time throwing the football.
An 11-3 season would be terrific at most schools, but this is Corbin. You come to expect the Redhounds to go far in the playoffs.
The challenge will certainly be there in the coming years with Bell County in the district. But, with the long tradition of the Redhounds you can still expect Corbin to go deep in the playoffs each year.
Whitley County was much better than fans give them credit for at the beginning of the season.
The Colonels played a killer schedule at the start of the season and it paid off when the district began.
Coach Jim Black does an excellent job with the Colonels and with the teams going to a four-team district in the next several years Whitley County will be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. Keep the tough schedules coming coach Black.
Williamsburg will remain in Class A and will be one of the 32 teams that is assured a spot in the playoffs.
Coach Jerry Herron does an excellent job as well getting the Jackets ready for the post season. Now he can beef up his schedule even more and not have to worry about getting into the playoffs.
Covering the county teams has been fun because you know you are going to see some of the best teams play Corbin, Whitley County and Williamsburg.
