Vivian Smith Cotterell
Vivian Smith Cotterell, age 65, of Hemlock Subdivision Road, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vivian was born on March 23, 1956 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Edward Eugene Smith and Alice Lucille (Leach) Smith. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Nathaniel and Mary (Manning) Smith and Arthur and Euna (Karr) Leach; and a brother-in-law, Gary Dugger.
Vivian was a graduate of Whitley County High School and Union College. She is a retired educator of the Whitley County Board of Education where she taught elementary school. She was program coordinator for Save the Children and coordinator for the gifted and talented. She loved to travel and experience life adventures and loved being a Nanny.
She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Glenn Cotterell of Williamsburg; two daughters, Sarah Ashley Cotterell and husband K.P. Bandyopadhyay of Auburn, Georgia and Brittany Ann Elliott and husband Paul Michael of Corbin; grandson, Andrew Michael Elliott of Corbin; mother, Lucille Smith of Williamsburg; three sisters, Vicki Dugger of Corbin, Kathi Lambdin (Roy) of Milford, Ohio and Lugena Johnson of Corbin; two brothers, Charles Smith (Darlene) and Ken Smith (Carolyn), all of Williamsburg; two special aunts, Lorene Bowling and Bessie Smith of Williamsburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Croley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 12, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Hodge officiating. She will be laid to rest following a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 14, at the Oaklawn Addition of Pleasant View Cemetery in Pleasant View, Kentucky.
