Virginia man arrested by Corbin police for kidnapping girlfriend
Corbin Police reported the arrest of a Virginia man on kidnapping charges after he allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat of his girlfriend’s car and drove off.
Terry Wade Stewart Jr., 25, of Jonesville, VA, was charged with kidnapping after a call came in to the Corbin dispatch center as a complaint of a threatening phone call. Police say when they arrived on the scene, the call had actually turned into a kidnapping situation. According to a press release issued by Corbin Police Public Affairs Officer, Lt. Rob Jones, Stewart followed his girlfriend, Brady Beaty to Corbin from Virginia and while she was sitting in the passenger seat of her car, jumped into the driver’s seat and fled.
The report says that Stewart drove the car behind the Reeves Law Office on Master St. and tried to get Beaty to drink two bottles of turpentine with him. Beaty was able to get away from Stewart and after a brief search by police, Stewart was located on Hancock St.
Stewart is charged with kidnapping, which is a class b felony. Detective
Bill Rose is continuing the investigation and was assisted by chief David Campbell, Col. Bruce Rains and Sgt. Jason Moore.
