VIDEO: Police say woman who threw flower pots from bridge now in hospital, avoids arrest

Corbin Police have identified the woman caught on surveillance tape throwing flowerpots from the Engineer Street Bridge as Brenda Taylor Webb, but they suspect she has checked into The Trillium Center to a local hospital to avoid arrest.
Corbin Police Chief David Campbell said four different callers have identified Webb. With that information, police secured an arrest warrant for Webb, but have been unable to locate her after multiple trips to her home on Ott Road. Campbell said officers went to the home at least twice on Tuesday, but found no one at home. They returned early Wednesday morning.
While Webb’s van was in the driveway, Campbell said she wasn¹t home. However, her 12-year-old son, whom Campbell said is also seen on the video throwing the flower pot. Her son said she threw the pots off the bridge because she was angry that her oldest son is in jail. He added that Webb tried to choke the family¹s Pit Bull dog Tuesday night, after which, she went to The Trillium Center.
"The people at The Trillium Center will not say whether or not she is there," Campbell said Wednesday.
Campbell said officers would continue to watch the house in an effort to serve the warrant, which charges Taylor with second-degree criminal mischief. Several area florists told police it would cost about $850 to replace the five flowerpots that were damaged or destroyed when they were tossed from the bridge.
Under Kentucky law, the charge is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail. Campbell added that legal action against the boy could be forthcoming.
"If I have anything to say about, he will be charged," Corbin Police Colonel Bruce Rains said.
After conferring with several officers, Campbell said there is no legal statute to charge Webb for the juvenile¹s actions.

Seems going to the trillum ctr to avoid the law or too insure your check won’t be cut off is the only reason some people check in there, there is a shortage of space for people who actually need help because of these fakers and low lifes…..they party all the time ordering pizza and smoking ciggs something no other patient in the hospital isnt allowed to do…and the funny thing is when you enter the hospital the first thing you hear is THIS IS A SMOKE FREE HOSPITAL…..yeah duh….

i seriously feel your wrong the lady has been arrested before and kids taken from her and she hasn’t learned nothing from it !!!! so i feel we need to stop feeling sorry for her and have her step up and take her punishment

I never said she shouldn’t be punished. You need to read back through what has been said. I said it is ridiculus that this ever became such a HUGE issue. Sure she needs to be punished. But I think the punishment should fit the crime. Let her spend a few days doing communtiy service to clean up the neighborhood she vandalized. Jail her for a couple of days or fine her. There is no sense in throwing the book at someone for a petty crime. And even though your precious tax dollars paid for the flower pots all this is is a petty crime. I like to think that MY tax dollars go toward something more substantial than a few flower pots. have a great weekend Joe.
Listen Shelly as a taxpayer in the city of Corbin it is my business when someone tears up property that my money halped pay for. Thugs are a huge problem in this town and coddling them has never worked. You must be one of those types.
Joe, why is it you get on here and mind every bodies business but your own? Shannon, I was not defending pot growers or insinuating that it should be legalized. I was simply saying that more effort should be taken to use our tax dollars and resources to catch pot growers instead of wasting all this time, money and media on pot THROWERS. I pointed out that the system is backwards, the punishment does not fit the crime. That is all.. I don’t know the woman and don’t care about her personally, Its the point of the matter. Are you kidding me???? Since when did being in a hospital keep you from being arrested?? Go get the dum beech and throw her as$ in jail!!!!! If my kids did this I would have to pay for the flowers and pots and then have to pay a fine on top of it….get this low life…..I think shelly is smoking too much crack if you think that murder has a lesser sentence than marijuana! My question is this: Who is watching her kids while she is (possibly) at the Trillum Center?
Joe I think she is saying that growing marijuana is not that serious of a crime and that she supports it being legalized so everyone can smoke it. It least that’s the way I read it.

I am not taking up for the woman, but what if she truly does have a medical condition? You all get on here and just give her crap over less than 100 dollars worth of damage. Yes she did wrong, yes she shoudl be punished. Yes DCBS need to remove the children but my God people enough is enough. Let it go. I wish you put this much effort into things that really matter, like the fact the sherriff has skimmed 100’s of thousands of dollars from the taxpayers. The fact that murder carries a lesser sentence than growing marijuana… Focus on the important stuff and let the petty theives be taken care of by the people who it is their job to do this stuff.
Hey former social worker as usual the typical full of BULL type that thinks we need to coddle criminals so that they will love us all. Well like I said thats BULL. This good old gal has driven drunk with kids in the car, failed to render aid to injured people and has harrassed others to the point she has been arrested three times. And now she has put her kids up to committing crimes. She obviously has never been punished enough to make her think twice. What are the courts waiting for? I say she needs tough time in jail and the kids need to be gotten away from her until she proves that she is capable of not putting her kids up to destroying things.
Nancy and Joe have the typical view on these things but they are wrong. Our society cannot arrest its way out of these problems. There are much deeper issues here. Everyone in the social work field knows this. This woman needs to have a reason to value society and her community. Its just a lack of love from a cruel world that has made her this way. Instead of calling her names and putting her down, maybe you should talk to her and make an attempt to understand where she is coming from. Even giving her a hug and telling her she is an important worthwhile person would be a big step in the right direction. Putting her in jail again will just produce more crime when she gets out and she will be a burden on taxpayers while she is in. Hugs are the answer.
For those that think this is a woman crying for help you need to go to jailtracker.com click on current jails, click on Knox county jail. Go to the top of the page and click on check past inmates. Then type in the last name of Webb. Once you do that you will see three arrests you can then look at them and see what a great old gal this is. She shouldn’t be allowed to have kids under her control. The courts have let these kids down.
Former Social Worker… Are you serious?? A single parent my butt. What does that have to do with anything? That was her choice, just as destroying property was her choice. Nobody makes you have children. I am so sick of that excuse. People like her should be sterilized!!! At one time years ago i lived on the wefare system in a different state and raised my childern by myself. I did not go around throwing things off a bridge or destroying other peoples property. Maybe she was angry but she had not rigth to do what she did. Take the anger out some other way . Go outside and punch a tree or sonething. And that poor dog he didnt do anything let him alone to .
First of all it’s a blatant disrespect and destruction of property and all involved NEED to be punished. The boy WAS probably doing as he was told but needs to know from someone other than his mother that it is a crime to destroy property as such. I totally agree with ts01, this woman certainly should not be able to influence children anymore. And former social worker…give me a break!! That is half the problem with our society today!! Small crimes go unpunished and get swept under the proverbial rug!
This woman is clearly angry because society has let her down and not given her enough support. It is tough being a poor single parent which I assume is her situation. What she did is not right but I think it was just a loud cry for help. We should all pray for her and give her support instead of try to punish her for her actions. That is the way we all think in the social work field anyway.
I think they should make her do community service. They should also make her walk downtown and pick up litter etc, and be held accountable if it doesn’t look great all the time. The boy actually looks like something is wrong with him, but he does need counseling from being raised by a redneck hillbilly like that.
Well Shelly I just thank God we still have one paper left that doesn’t mind digging in and getting information. The other CORBIN paper doesn’t even seem to be interested in CORBIN anymore.
They only said they “suspected” she was at the Trillium center. I cannot believe someone would even take up for a woman that does such a thing in front of her children. Where are those children going to be when they get older? Jail I would say. Look what she’s taught them already. From my point of view, she needs put behind a jail cell for a few days. Those kid’s need in foster care too. What a sorry excuse for a mother. Why weren’t these kid’s in school by the way?
I think the paper should not be able to tell everyone that the woman has checked herself into the trillium center. That is a breach in her personal information. The police should not release information with-out the woman being in their custody. I smell a law-suit here.
Funny how a woman throughs a few things into the creek and becomes a BIG HEADLINE, but we have people being murdered and they barely make the news… what a place we live in!

Carole and Bb, If when I was 12, and my mother told me to do something, I did it, no questions period. I suspect if the two of you were raised right, you did the same, leave the child out of this, if she’s as disturbed as her actions look, he was probably afraid not to.
