UPDATED: Williamsburg police arrest two on methamphetamine charges
A Tennessee resident and a Williamsburg man are being held in the Whitley County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bonds after being arrested early Wednesday morning on meth related charges.
Whitley District Judge Cathy Prewitt entered not guilty pleas on behalf of Jason Michael Davis, 34, of 81 Highland Park, and Jerrod Daniel Gosnell, 31, of Lafollette, during their arraignments Thursday afternoon on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of meth precursors.
Prewitt appointed the public advocate’s office to represent both men, and scheduled a Jan. 10 preliminary hearing in their case.
Williamsburg Police Sgt. Michael Taylor arrested the pair about 2:33 a.m. on Jan. 5 following an incident at Pilot Travel Center.
Gosnell allegedly caused a disturbance with a manager at Pilot Travel Center, and kept giving police a false name and date of birth, according to his arrest citation.
He had blood shot eyes, and allegedly told police that he had taken Percocet pills, Taylor wrote on the arrest citation.
A search of Gosnell’s 2005 Mazda revealed several meth precursors and what appeared to be a possible meth lab, according to the arrest citation.
Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations dismantled the lab, and found it to be neutral with ether in the bottle, according to the arrest citation.
Davis was a passenger in Gosnell’s vehicle, according to his arrest citation.
Williamsburg Police Officer Jason Strunk and KSP Trooper Tony Dingess assisted at the scene
