UPDATED: Six injured in two-vehicle wreck near Corbin Friday afternoon
A Williamsburg woman, who is five months pregnant, had to be flown out from the scene following a two-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon in Gray that injured five other people.
The wreck happened about 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of US25E and Highway 233 near Crossroads Market.
According to Kentucky State Police, Kenneth Wolff, 45, was traveling southbound on US 25E in a 2000 Dodge Stratus when he struck 18-year-old Cynthia Gibson, of Williamsburg, who was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and attempted a left turn, pulling out in front of Wolff. Wolff struck her vehicle in the left-front area.
Air Evac Lifeteam flew the driver Gibson, 18, of Williamsburg, to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.
"Her injuries are unknown, but she was five months pregnant," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Jake Wilson, who is investigating the accident. In a press release from State Police Post 10 in Harlan, authorities say Gibson suffered only non-life threatening injures and was flown to the UK Med Center only as a precaution. She was later released.
Wolff and the three passengers in his vehicle – Sandra Wolff, 41; Tiffany Hall, 28 and Donna Hall, 50, all had to extricated from the vehicle by members of the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department. They were all transported by Knox County EMS to the Knox County Hospital in Barbourville and treated for minor injuries.
Wilson said that a passenger in Gibson’s car, 39-year-old Angie Ferguson, was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin and treated for injuries to her leg.
A total of four ambulances from Knox and Laurel County responded to the scene.
The accident closed US 25E for nearly and hour.
Police say all occupants in each vehicle we wearing their seatbelts.
Wilson is continuing an investigation into the crash.
