UPDATED: Man arrested for head-on crash with school bus Thursday

Update: Twenty-two-year-old Preston Rains, of Williamsburg, has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash. He was booked into the Whitley County Detention Center late Thursday night and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a DUI suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, menacing and resisting arrest. Rains was arrested by Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Kirk Mays.
Police say they have located the vehicle that crashed into a Whitley County school bus Thursday head-on, then fled the scene of the accident.
There were four children on the bus at the time. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened on Junior Rowland Road. None one on the bus was injured.
The car that hit the bus is described as a gray or silver Mitsubishi Eclipse. Sheriff’s Department officials said Thursday evening the vehicle had been located and that more information regarding the investigation into the incident would be available soon.
