UPDATED: Corbin dance studio owner injured in rollover crash Tuesday
Corbin Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free Gail Frederick, 63, of Corbin, from her SUV following a two-vehicle wreck on Fifth Street Road just before noon Tuesday morning.
Frederick’s SUV turned over on its side near the Interstate 75 underpass on Fifth Street Road after striking a GMC Jimmy driven by Blaine Kretzer of Corbin.
Corbin Police Sgt. Shannon Jones said as Kretzer, 38, of Corbin, came around a corner, he lost control of the vehicle. He tried to correct and could not, and slid into the opposite lane of traffic, striking Frederick’s Lexus GX 740.
The Lexus turned on its right side into a drainage ditch near the road.
"I did everything I could do to avoid the accident but there was just nothing I could do. I was all the way over almost into the ditch." said Frederick who is recovering from her injuries at home today. "I’m stiff and sore all over but I will be fine."
Frederick said Kretzer’s vehicle spun full circle before striking her. She said he was very distraught after the accident and got on of her SUV to make sure she was OK.
Corbin Firefighters were on the scene within minutes to cut the top off of the Lexus to extricate Frederick, who was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center. Hospital officials have no record of Frederi
