UPDATE: Police say crash involving motorcycle results in fatality
A two-vehicle collision on Devils Creek Road resulted in the death of a Corbin man Sunday night.
The accident, which was reported to Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London around 8:15 p.m., involved William O. Hinkle, 21, who was driving a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck and Michael J. King, 62, operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
According to a press release by KSP, Trooper Scott Bunch determined that Hinkle was traveling eastbound along the road when he crossed the centerline and struck King, who, despite wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
While drugs or alcohol are not suspected, it is reported that Hinkle did not have vehicle insurance at the time of the accident and was issued a citation.
The road was closed to traffic for several hours while the scene was inspected. KSP Troopers were assisted at by Whitley County EMS and Oak Grove Fire Dept.
Bunch is leading the investigation.
