Update: Man on horseback receiving medical treatment after being struck by vehicle on Bee Creek Road
A man, who was riding horseback on Bee Creek Road in Whitley County Wednesday evening, is receiving medical treatment after being struck by a vehicle.
The crash happened about 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 21.
According to Kentucky State Police, Robert A. Walker, 74, of Corbin, was operating a 1970 Chevrolet Blazer that was traveling on Bee Creek Road when he struck a horse that was in the roadway. The horse’s rider, Logan Brock, 18, of Gray, was transported to the Baptist Health Corbin hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
Authorities present at the scene said Brock was struck from behind and thrown off, landing in the road and sustaining serious injuries.
Sources claiming to be close to the horseback rider have informed the News Journal that his injuries have been deemed non-life threatening.
The horse died at the scene. Walker was not injured, according to state police.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.
KSP Trooper Tyson Lawson is continuing the investigation.
