UPDATE: Indiana woman dies from injuries suffered in crash on I-75 near Corbin
An Indiana woman has died from multiple injuries she suffered in a motor vehicle accident on I-75 late Thursday morning.
Authorities say Vickie Vondielingen, 63, of Seymour, Ind. was traveling south on I-75 when she lost control of her GM Aveo and overturned coming to rest in the median about 200 yards south of the 20-mile marker, according to Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Lawson, who is investigating the accident.
Vondielingen, who was the only person in the vehicle, was ejected.
No seatbelts were in use and the airbags didn’t deploy, Lawson said.
Whitley County EMS treated her at the scene, and transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.
Authorities aren’t sure why she lost control of the vehicle. Vondielingen was pronounced dead by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley at 11:08 a.m. at the hospital.
No drug or alcohol involvement is suspected.
The accident happened about 10 a.m., and had the southbound lane of travel shut down for over 90 minutes.
Deputy E.J. Miller, Deputy Farhad "Razor" Forohar, Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White, and Whitley County Police Department Chief Chuck Davis all assisted at the scene along with members of the 3-Point and Emlyn volunteer fire departments.
