UC’s online IT degree ranked among top 20
A University of the Cumberlands (UC) online program was recently recognized by an online college ranking service as one of the top 20 online information technology programs in the county.
College Values Online has identified UC as having the 19th best online bachelor’s in Information Technology (IT) degrees.
Students harness information and learn to use technology to store, retrieve, and work with data. They learn to solve real-world problems using technology. The curriculum teaches them to develop and implement current security policies, create disaster prevention and recovery plans, manage compliance with federal regulations, recognize and prevent exploitation in hardware, software and network configurations, and write new software to tackle security threats, according to a College Values Online release.
Graduates work in a variety of industries where they help businesses run smoothly, achieve goals, and stay connected.
The program is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
University of the Cumberlands has been named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). There are just over 200 universities nationwide with CAE-CD designation, and only two other universities in Kentucky included in this elite group, according to UC’s website.
UC’s degree requires 120 credits, and tuition per credit is $335.
College Values Online aims to provide current and relevant information on the college selection process that will make the decision-making for prospective students just a little bit easier, the company wrote on its website.
“From online college degree program rankings to informational articles and FAQs to college profiles, our researchers, writers, and editors offer practical guidance through careful research and informed by over 20 years of experience in college selection … Through interaction with multiple data sources like College Navigator, US Department of Labor Statistics, US News & World Report, Forbes, and Kiplinger, we save you valuable time now, and money later on down the road,” according to the company’s website.
Located in the heart of Appalachia, UC is an institution of regional distinction that offers undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study, along with several pre-professional, graduate, and doctoral programs.
With a total enrollment of more than 18,000 students, UC is one of the largest and most affordable private universities in Kentucky. Cumberlands is devoted to preparing students for the future through innovative programs as well as hands-on, experiential learning and research.
