Two critically injured in Williamsburg crash Tuesday

Two people are in critical condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center when a Cadillac T-boned a Ford Focus in Williamsburg Tuesday morning.
Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White said the wreck occurred about 10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 25W and Cumberland Ave. near the IGA grocery store.
The driver of the Focus, 80-year-old Robert Smith was airlifted from the scene after he was extricated from the vehicle by Williamsburg firefighters. A passenger in the Focus, 85-year-old Harold Mills, was initially taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin. He was later airlifted to UT.
White said both are listed in critical condition.
Firefighters said they had to remove a door off the Focus to get Smith out of the vehicle. A landing zone was set up in the parking lot of the fire department for the helicopter to fly him from the scene.
According to White, Katelyn Sulfridge, 18, of Williamsburg, was driving south on 25W in the Cadillac STS sedan. As she approached the intersection, Smith tried to make a left turn from Cumberland Ave. onto 25W.
A second passenger in the Focus was taken by ambulance to BHC. White said neither Sulfridge nor any of the four passengers in her vehicle, including two children, suffered injuries that required medical transport.
U.S. 25W between Main Street and Cumberland Ave. was closed to traffic for about an hour as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
White did not have an estimate of how fast the Cadillac was travelling when the wreck occurred.
Police say neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the wreck.
