Truck hits Edward Jones building during two-vehicle crash Wednesday

This Bryan Smith Drywall truck struck the Edward Jones building during the crash.

A two-vehicle wreck on Main Street in Corbin Wednesday morning resulted in the Edward Jones building being struck.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Roy Kidd Avenue.

Corbin Police Lt. Coy Wilson said that Dora Smith-Epperson, who is in her early 60s, was driving a Chevy Malibu on Roy Kidd Avenue when she struck a Chevy Silverado truck, which was driven by Aaron Nelson, 23, in the side as it drove up Main Street.

The Silverado, which was a Bryan Smith Drywall LLC vehicle, was hauling a trailer behind it, and struck the Edward Jones building as it came to rest.

No one was apparently in the Edward Jones building at the time of the crash. Whitley County EMS, Corbin Fire Department and the Corbin Police Department all responded to the scene of the accident.

Wilson said that Smith-Epperson complained of shoulder and chest pain from where her seatbelt restrained her.

Whitley County EMS was expected to take her to Baptist Health Corbin to get checked out and for additional treatment, if necessary.

The extent of the damage to the Edward Jones building is not known at this time.

Neither Nelson, nor his passenger in the truck, Tyler Reyes, 18, reported being injured.

No drug or alcohol involvement is suspected.
