Trimble, Hammons among intended victims in complicity to commit murder case

William Sutton is accused of criminal complicity to commit murder.

William T. Sutton admitted to police that he offered another inmate at the Whitley County Detention Center a total of $40,000 to kill four people, including Whitley County Attorney Bob Hammons and Commonwealth’s Attorney Allen Trimble, according to testimony during Sutton’s preliminary hearing Monday morning.

At the close of the hearing, Whitley District Judge Fred White doubled Sutton’s bond from $50,000 cash to $100,000 cash and ordered him to have no contact with the victims in the case.

On March 9, Kentucky State Police Trooper David Lassiter charged Sutton, 54, with four counts of complicity to commit murder, four counts of retaliating against a participant in a legal process and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, following a two-week investigation.
