Tournament Play
The Area Minor League Tournaments got underway Tuesday night with Corbin and Williamsburg playing first-round games.
Corbin lost to North Laurel Green 6-1 while Pineville/Bell used a 10-run fifth inning to beat Williamsburg 17-7.
Williamsburg broke out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Michael Rose led off with a single, stole second then scored on a Ryan Bowlin base hit.
In the second inning, Williamsburg scored two more runs when Tyler White amd Michael Huffman cross the plate. Williamsburg led 5-3 before Pineville/Bell rallied to win.
Little League
Corbin will play in the Area Two Little League Tournament at the North Laurel Little League Complex off US 80 Friday at 6 p.m. Corbin will take on the winner of the North Laurel-Clay County game that will be played Thursday at 6 p.m.
Win or lose, Corbin will play again on Saturday.
Corbin will be coached by Burley Foley. Members of the Corbin All-Stars are: Travis Smith, Vinnie Hoover, Eric Jones, Josh Coppock, Daniel Skinner, Dirk Berta, Michael Jackson, Ryan Worley, Jared Barton, Brady Foley and Dalton Terry.
The Williamsburg All-Stars and head coach David Bryant will begin play in Middlesboro Thursday at 6 p.m. Williamsburg will take on host, Middlesboro in the first-round. The all-stars include, Austin Bryant, Cody Perkins, Jalen Dobson, Dillyn Abner, Donnie Bowlin, Chris Lowery, J.P. Payne, Hunter Williams, Cory Newsome, Jonthan Teague, C.J. Jones and Bill McFarland.
Coaches include: Jimmy Dobson and Jerry Croley.
The 9-10 Year Old Minor League All-Stars began play Tuesday night. Corbin was scheduled to play in Jackson County against North Laurel Green while Williamsburg was scheduled to meet Pineville/Bell County in Middlesboro.
Tony Conlin will coach the Williamsburg All-Stars which consist of players Carissa Conlin, Ryan Bowlin, Chase Lowery, Michael Rose, Cody Smith, Eric Poore, Michael Huffman, Tyler White, Lee Jay York, John Schoop, Sebastian Mullis, Abe Doncaster. Assistant coaches are Brent Poore and Kevin Lowery.
