Three injured in rollover wreck on I-75

Three people, including a three-year-old child, were injured Wednesday night when their car hydroplaned on the rain-slick roads and overturned on Interstate 75 near the 30-mile marker.

According to Sheriff John Root, the driver of the 2015 Chrysler 200, identified as 23-year-old Brittney Neal of Dry Ridge, said she was travelling north on I-75 about 7:40 p.m. when the vehicle began to hydroplane and slip sideways on the wet roads.

The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and flipped onto its right side before coming to rest.

West Knox Fire Chief Daryl Baker said Neal, along with the passengers, 19-year-old Gregory Gordon and the three-year-old, were all out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived on the scene.

One lane on the northbound side was shut down for about 55 minutes as firefighters and emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.

According to Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, public affairs officer at the sheriff’s department, Neal, Gordon and the child were each taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in London.

Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
