Three hurt when truck flips on Falls Highway

A two-car accident on Cumberland Falls Hwy. sent three people to the hospital Tuesday, but luckily, none of them were seriously injured.
A late model Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Amanda Price, 17, of Corbin and a late 90s model Toyota truck driven by Stanley Blackstone of Williamsburg, collided as the two passed each other in opposite directions around noon in front of the Corbin Speedway.
According to witnesses, Blackstone’s pickup crossed the center line and struck Price’s Grand Am, sending the pickup into a barrel roll before coming to rest in the ditch on the east bound side of the highway.
One witness, John Hammock, of London, said once he saw what was happening he just started dodging debris.
“I saw the truck and car touch each other and really that was that,” Hammock said. “Once the truck lost control, I stared dodging the debris.”
Kentucky State Trooper Scott Bunch investigated the wreck and said the passengers in the truck were pretty lucky to have sustained such minor injuries.
“I counted at least two flips before it came to rest,” Bunch said. “Their injuries weren’t very severe at all. The driver had a few scratches and the passenger was actually sitting up in the bed talking to me at the hospital.
“From what I was told by witnesses, the truck was at fault because it crossed the line and you could tell by the marks on the vehicle that’s what happened,” he added.
Neither Price, nor any of the three passengers with her in the Grand Am were seriously injured, though she was transported to BRMC. Even though he did not confirm it, Bunch said he did not believe Price’s injuries were severe in nature.
The passengers with Price, 23-year-old Daniel Woods, 29-year-old Matthew Fore and 44-year-old James Morgan, all refused treatment by EMS and were able to walk away from the scene.
Whitley County EMS and Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department and the Kentucky State Police responded to the scene.
