Three arrested in connection with active meth lab in Gray
Three Gray residents were arrested Wednesday in connection with an active meth lab Knox County Sheriff’s deputies found at a residence on Raven Ridge Court.
According to Sheriff Mike Smith, Deputy Keith Liford responded to the residence in the Gray community, where he arrested 38-year-old Heather Hollin, 40-year-old John Jones and 32-year-old Russell Broughton for manufacturing methamphetamine and other charges.
“When Deputy Liford arrived he observed the back door was open and he detected a strong odor of ether was coming from the house trailer,” Smith stated, adding LIford located a quantity of methamphetamine, along with various meth precursors and other Smith stated that deputies found an active meth lab outside along with other ingredients used to manufacture meth.
In addition to the meth manufacturing charge, Hollin, Jones and Broughton are each charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of meth precursor and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hollins and Jones were each charged with second-degree criminal mischief in connection with two highway signs, including a stop sign, found in the residence.
The stop sign is a Class D felony.
Smith stated that Hollin is also wanted in Whitley County on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court on several traffic charges.
Broughton has three outstanding Knox County bench warrants for failure to pay fines on five traffic charges and a Laurel County bench warrant for failure to appear on eight traffic charges.
Liford was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Smith, Deputy Tackettt Wilson and Constable Reed Murphy.
A Kentucky State Police DESI Meth Disposal Unit member also responded to the scene to secure the meth labs.
Hollin, Jones and Brought were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
