Teen seriously injured after rollover crash Tuesday afternoon

Police say brothers Keith and Kevin Trett were riding in this car Tuesday when they crashed on Oak Ridge Road in Corbin. Kevin Trett was seriously injured in the accident.
A Corbin teen was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon as a result of a single-vehicle rollover crash just off Ohler Road, and police say criminal charges could result from an investigation into the crash.
According to Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Wagner, 18-year-old Keith Trett was driving a Pontiac Grand Am on Oak Ridge Road going toward Ohler Road. He crested a hill, then lost control of the vehicle, struck an embankment and the vehicle flipped multiple times before coming to rest in a field.
His passenger and twin brother, 18-year-old Kevin Trett, was thrown from the car and seriously injured.
"He says the tire locked up on him, but I think he was just going too fast," Wagner said. "It appears speed was a factor."
Police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved. It doesn’t appear, however, that either brother was wearing a seat belt.
Keith Trett had only minor injuries, but his brother was airlifted from the scene for medical treatment by Air Evac Lifeteam with serious injuries.
Wagner said Keith Trett had no valid license or active insurance at the time of the crash.
An investigation in the accident is ongoing. Wagner said criminal charges are pending.
The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Knox EMS and the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
