A 17-year-old was airlifted to the University of the Kentucky Medical Center Thursday night after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Ky. 312 in Keavy.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene near the Bait Bucket about 10:27 p.m.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer said the teenager was walking east on 312 and was reportedly wearing dark clothes. Neil Arnold of Corbin was also travelling east in his Chevy Malibu when he struck the teen.
Acciardo said there was nothing to suspect either drugs or alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The Laurel County Rescue Squad, Keavy Fire Department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and Kentucky State Police also responded to the scene.
