The shooting happened Friday in Springfield, Ohio. The victim, Melody M. Turner, was shot once in the neck or head, according to a law enforcement arrest report/probable cause affidavit filed by Springfield Police Detective R.W. Jordan.
Turner’s cousin, Evan T. Stewart, who was a witness to the shooting, told police that he and Turner had been involved in a dispute over some money.
This started at the Quality Inn at 383 E. Leffel Lane. Stewart and Melody Turner left there and went to an express smoke shop to cash a check, according to the police report.
While they were there, Tevious Turner arrived and came into the store.
Stewart and Tevious Turner allegedly began arguing again and Stewart walked out of the store and got into the passenger side of Melody Turner’s Malibu car.
Tevious Turner’s car was parked next to them, and Tevious Turner allegedly reached into his car, grabbed a pistol and walked towards Stewart, according to the police report.
Tevious Turner then approached Stewart and the two began to argue more. At this point Tevious Turner allegedly pointed a pistol at Stewart, and Melody Turner began to back out, according to the police report.
Tevious Turner allegedly fired one shot at this point, which struck Melody Turner. Stewart reached over and was able to operate the vehicle out of the parking lot, according to the police report.
According to media reports, Melody Turner later died of her injuries at Miami Valley Hospital.
It is unknown what charges Tevious Turner faces in Georgia, or whether Ohio officials have upgraded the assault charge to a homicide charge.
