Sunday Games – 12-21-08
The Lady Redhounds played Sunday in the Cumberland Falls Invitational. They lost to the Jackson County Lady Gerenals by a shocking score of 69-59. It was one of those days where one team was lucky and the other team unlucky. In this matter, Jackson County hit shots they probably won’t hit the rest of the season. They were certainly not the same team I saw open the season against Whitley County.
Speaking of Whitley County, the Lady Colonels lost on a last second shot to Middlesboro, 54-52. Holly Jones had a big day, knocking down five three pointers. Middlesboro hit nine threes in the win while the Lady Colonels hit eight. Whitley County will play Louisville Fairdale for seventh place Monday.
In the Hoopin It Up Classic, Corbin defeated Louisville Butler and Williamsburg lost to North Laurel in the second round of the tournament. I missed the Corbin game, but saw Williamsburg’s game with the Jaguars.
Williamsburg gave the home team all they could handle and more. Williamsburg may have ran away with the game but Williamsburg was whistled for 22 fouls while North Laurel was called for just 10. The Jaguars shot 31 free throws, hitting 24, compared to Williamsburg’s nine. The Jackets hit six.
Williamsburg won every other facet of the game, three-point shooting, field-field shooting and rebounding.
And this was a very physical game at both ends of the court!!!
