Sue Price Mathes

Sue Price Mathes, age 93, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home.
Sue was born November 23, 1929 in Milligan, TN., to the late Edward E. and Anna Lee (Miller) Price.
She was an educator in both Happy Valley, TN., and Pine Knot, KY. At age 19, Sue obtained a bachelor’s degree in the arts at Milligan College, and continued to the University of Kentucky to obtain a master’s in social work.
In June of 1955, Sue married her late husband, Walter T. Mathes, whom she met while obtaining a degree at Mulligan College.
Sue is survived by three children, Richard Mathes and wife, Cynthia of Corbin, KY, Cathy Evans and husband, Tim of Lexington, KY, Vickie Chaudry, and husband Khalid of Corbin, KY; grandson, Richie Mathes of Washington D.C.; granddaughter, Rachel Mathes of Corbin, KY; grandson, Kyle Evans of Lexington, KY, Joseph Chaudry and wife, Stephanie of Ridgeland, MS., and Joshua Chaudry and wife, Sarah Ruth of Corbin, KY; nieces, Temple Wilhoit of Chucky, TN, Carla Mathes of Statesville, NC, Rene Hasey and husband Richard of Lexington, VA, Debbie DePew of Bristol, TN, Susan and husband Rob Feagins, of Abbington VA; nephews, Brett Mathes and wife, Amy of Richmond, KY, Edward DePew and wife, Betsy of Bristol, TN; special family friends, Carolyn Bowman, Gail Rhoades, Martha Douglas; and a host of family and friends to mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Edward E. and Anna Lee (Miller) Price; and loving husband, Walter T. Mathes; she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna DePew and husband, Burl; brother-in-law, Carl Mathes and wife, Mildred; sister-in-law, Katie Wilhoit and husband, Jack.
A graveside committal service will be conducted Wednesday, December 28, at 11 am at the Highland Park Cemetery – Croley Addition, where the family will meet prior to services.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, after 6 pm, at the Croley Funeral Home.
