Lily man, Corbin woman arrested for strong arm robbery

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Lily man and a Corbin woman Tuesday afternoon in connection with a strong-arm robbery that occurred last Tuesday in southern Laurel County.

According to Sheriff John Root, deputies arrested 37-year-old Jason Wells and 33-year-old Lorie Eversole about 3 p.m. charging each with one count of second-degree robbery.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said previously that clerks at the Corner Market, located at the intersection of Ky. 233 and Ky. 1223 near the Laurel/Knox County line, were acquainted with Wells and identified him as a suspect.

Deputies located Wells at a relative’s house on Nuway Trail north of London and took him into custody without incident.

Deputies then proceeded to a location off of Ky. 80 east of London where they arrested Eversole.

The robbery occurred about noon when the suspect, later identified as Wells, came into the store asking for change for a $100 bill.

“The clerk had a bank bag down under the counter that he was trying to make the change from,” Acciardo said previously, adding that the robber grabbed the bag and ran out the door to a waiting Chevrolet Impala.

Root stated that Eversole allegedly served as a lookout during the robbery.

Though witnesses initially described the getaway car as a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, they noted it was blue in color with a red fender.

Root said deputies recovered the vehicle at the same location where they apprehended Eversole.

Wells and Eversole are both being held without bond in the Laurel County Detention Center.

They are each scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Laurel District Court.
