Sondra Owens

Sondra Owens, age 80, of Williamsburg, KY, born July 23, 1943, as Sondra Ruth Collins, passed away at Baptist Health Hospital Corbin on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Everette and Aileen Collins; brother-in-law, Bob Monroe; sister-in-law, Pat Collins; and nephew, Chad Monroe.
Sondra retired as Guidance Counselor from Whitley County High School. Prior to that position she was one of their teachers of Mathematics.
As a member of Cumberland Free Will Baptist Church, she was the youth Sunday School teacher for many years. Everyone knew her as ‘Aunt Sondra’ and she performed multiple tasks while maintaining that role. She couldn’t carry a tune but would try to sing along and spread the gospel to all who would listen. She always made sure any children who were at ‘the farm’ on Sundays got a ride to Church.
Her hobbies of photography, quilting and scrapbooking have been a blessing to many as a way to preserve the past for many generations.
She was an inspiration to all those around her and made it her mission in life to see as many youths possible receive the opportunities necessary to both further their education and worship and praise the Lord. She truly led by example in how to live your best life.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Owens, also of Williamsburg, KY; her daughter, Sonja Kuebler (Steve) of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Dallas Chad Kuebler (Kenzie), Alexandra McKay (Cole) and Carson Kuebler; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Dallas Jr. and Weston; her siblings, Hope Monroe, Homer Collins (Deb Tamblin) and Bernice Hyden (Chuck); along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 26, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerome Cox and Rev. Joshua Bowman officiating.
Interment will in Cumberland Freewill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, at the funeral home.
