Smallwood facing sexual misconduct charge

Arland Smallwood is facing various charges, including assault, burglary and sexual misconduct.
A Corbin man is facing burglary, assault and sexual misconduct charges for allegedly breaking into a woman’s home and touching her in a sexual manner early Saturday morning.
Twenty-two-year-old Arland Smallwood was arrested about 1:30 a.m. at his home on Park Hills Road.
Knox County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on East Lewis Street in response to a complaint that a man had forced his way into the woman’s home and started forcibly making sexual advance toward her, rubbing on her pubic area and breasts.
The victim told Deputy Claude Hudson that she was able to flee the scene and ran to a neighbor’s home. However, Smallwood allegedly gave chase, punching her multiple times in the back with his fists.
Hudson said Smallwood went to a neighboring residence where he allegedly stabbed the occupant in the left arm with a screwdriver.
Hudson located Smallwood on the front porch of his residence and took him into custody.
Smallwood was charged with second-degree burglary, sexual misconduct fourth-degree assault – domestic violence and fourth-degree assault – minor injury.
Smallwood was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
Smallwood is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Knox District Court.
