Simms leaving Louisville
My loyalty to Louisville really diminished yesterday when I heard Matt Simms was leaving Louisville. The talented son of Phil Simms, a classmate of mine at Morehead State and the New York Giants.
I was thrilled when I heard Matt was going to play for Louisville, but when Steve Kragthorpe came in there just seemed to be a difference and I felt something was wrong with the situation. And, now, he has decided to transfer to another school.
I am disappointed! You have to wonder what went wrong. Kragthorpe did bring in junior college quarterback Adam Froman and transfer Justin Burke from North Carolina State.
I’ve been a Louisville fan for years, but something is bad wrong with the football program. It’s quickly going down hill and I have to side with those disgruntled fans. Is Kragthorpe the right man for the Louisville job, I don’t think so. His first year was bad and the second was even worse.
People want to compare him to Rich Brooks. There is no comparison. Brooks took over UK as they were coming off probations. It was like starting a new program at UK and he has done a fantastic job. I know fans were calling for his head after the first two seasons, but he has really turned the program in the right direction. This coming from a non-UK fan.
I guess I will be like the rest of the UL fans. I will just have to sit through it and suffer like I did back in the 70’s and 80’s when the Cardinals struggled.
But, Simms leaving really ticks me off! I guess I will just have to follow his career somewhere else. Wouldn’t it be great if he landed in Morehead, almost 30 years after his dad.
