Seven-year-old boy injured in golf cart accident at Sweet Hollow
A seven-year-old boy had to be flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in what bystanders called a "freak accident" at Sweet Hollow Country Club Thursday afternoon.
An unnamed employee at the Sweet Hollow Golf Course said that the boy’s father and a friend had played a round of golf and were in the process of wrapping things up as they loaded their clubs into a Ford pickup.
The boy’s left leg allegedly became pinned between the truck’s bumper and a golf cart driven by the father’s friend.
Crews worked at the scene of the incident for some time and had to stabilize the boy before he could be flown out.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy William Harris said the incident seemed to be just an accident and other than an incident report, an investigation will most likely not be necessary.
One witness called the injury one of the worst leg breaks she had ever seen.
