Second Annual Colonel Fest returns Saturday
The forecast is for sunshine and temperatures in the 80s on Saturday, which will be a marked improvement as the second annual Colonel Fest comes to downtown Corbin.
Corbin Downtown Director Maggy Monhollen said more than 50 vendors have signed up to participate in the event, which will run from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Main Street between Second and Gordon Street.
“It is mainly arts and crafts vendors but there will be a healthy showing of food vendors,” Monhollen said adding that the downtown businesses will be open as normally scheduled.
Contests include: The Nuggest on Ice Eating Competition sponsored by Sweeties Ice Cream and Mini Doughnuts.
First one to finish wins a prize.
Monhollen said registration for the event has closed. However, spectators are welcome to come out and watch the action.
The Fingerlickin’ Chicken .5K will again be held.
“Competitors will run 800 feet, eat a piece of chicken and then turn around and run back,” Monhollen explained about the event.
Other events include:
- The Colonel Sanders look-alike contest
- Chicken clucking and strutting contest
- Petting zoo featuring pony rides and camel rides
- Chainsaw carving demonstration
- Games for the children
Food vendors will also be on hand.
The Corbin High School Band will perform at 3 p.m.
