Scholarship established honoring Marion and Marie Thomas
Marie Thomas has been volunteering at Faith Christian Camp in Annville, KY since 1969. Forty years later she’s still volunteering.
Her first experience at the camp was when she took her son Todd, then seven years old, to camp and felt he was a little too young to stay by himself. She fell in love with the camp and has stayed long after Todd and her other children grew up and stopped attending.
Todd’s father Marion, who passed away in 1992, also supported and donated his time at the camp. He did all of the electrical work in the original six cabins and the main building.
Because of his parents dedication to the camp, Todd surprised his mother Wed., July 8th at the camp with a $1,000 annual scholarship donated by his firm Impact Consulting and Development. The surprise came one day after his mother Marie celebrated her 91st birthday.
Faith Christian Assembly Camp has been serving the youth in the Cumberland Valley area since 1965. The camp has been a tool for serving Christ through Bible based teaching and training of the area youth, preparing them to take their place in society as Christians with a firm hold on where they are going. It is supported by the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in this area.
Marie has two daughters, Sheila Onkst and Cindy Porter of Corbin and one son, Dr. Todd Thomas of Michigan. She has been blessed with eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. She is a long-time member of Seventeenth Street Christian Church.
The Robert Marion and Anna Marie Thomas Scholarship is set up so that anyone who wants to make a contribution can do so by sending it to Faith Christian Camp, 2891 Moores Creek School Rd., Annville, KY 40402.
