Ruth “Granny Ruth” Meadors
Ruth “Granny Ruth” Meadors, 93, of 19th Street, Corbin departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Corbin Health and Rehab Center.
She was born on October 18, 1925 in Williamsburg, to the late Rev. Paul Sharp and Ethel (Childers) Sharp.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lou Meadors; three brothers, Floyd “Preach” Sharp, Lloyd “Pete” Sharp and Frasure Sharp; and daughter-in-law, Nyla Meadors.
Granny Ruth was a devoted Christian and long-time member of Central Baptist Church, being a member after she and her family moved to Corbin in 1948. She was a Sunday school teacher, faithful member of the Mathew “Ministry” and Golden 50’s Old Time Choir and had over 70 years’ service to God, his church and his children. Granny Ruth will be missed by a multitude of friends, especially the little children.
She is survived by her son Ron Meadors (Gloria) of Corbin; three granddaughters, Tania Marcum (Allen) and Tammy Meadors of Corbin and Sarah Waldroup( Cory) of San Antonio, Texas; four great grandchildren, Adriene Bowman (Billy), Sam Marcum, Caleb Rollins (Shea) and Linzee Rollins; two great-great grandchildren, Nyla Kate Bowman and Zoey Rollins; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
The funeral service was held Saturday, December 15, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Fugitt, Rev. Josh Pollitt and Rev. James Vandy officiating.
Following the service she was laid to rest in the Briar Creek Cemetery in Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to the Mathew Ministry at Central Baptist Church.
