Ruth Goins

Ruth Goins, 92 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe.

Born May 12, 1925 in Harlan, Ruth was the daughter of the late Jess W. and Elizabeth (Gross) Simpson. Ruth was a graduate of Loyall High School in Loyall, Kentucky.

On November 19, 1945 Ruth married her beloved husband, A. Ray Goins in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on November 4, 2006 after almost 61 years of marriage.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son Dennis Lee Goins on February 12, 1977, eight sisters and three brothers.

Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and loved caring for her family. She also worked as a nurse’s aid at The Lutheran Home for four years and at Monroe Convalescent Center for eight years. She attended Monroe First Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Wesleyan Missionary Society. She enjoyed gardening walking and time spent with family.

Ruth is survived by, four loving children; A. Ray (Nancy) Goins, Jr. of LaSalle, MI, Ronnie “Hillbilly” (Barbara) Dophal of Williamsburg, Elizabeth Ann (Bill) Thornhill of Lebanon, TN and Margaret Ann (Ernie) Goodman of Monroe, eight cherished grandchildren and 17 cherished great grandchildren and a treasured great great granddaughter.

Visitation was and will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 24, at 11 a.m. Rev. Paul Roemer and Rev. Troy Maiden will officiate.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
