Routine traffic stop leads to recovery of drugs, stolen excavator

A routine traffic stop Saturday evening resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and marijuana. It also resulted in a search warrant at a Corbin home where police found drugs and an excavator, which had been reported stolen from Hazard, according to a Corbin Police Department release.

Corbin Patrolman Caleb Hester conducted the traffic stop that evening resulting in a methamphetamine and marijuana arrest.

“After speaking with the suspect, Hester was able to gain enough information on a residence off Gordon Hill Pike to obtain a search warrant. During the search of the residence, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription medications, bags and scales were located all throughout the home. Also on the property was an excavator that had been entered stolen out of Hazard,” the release noted.

Corbin Police Sgt. Steve Meadors, Patrolman Drew Wilson, K-9 Officer Estes Rhodes, Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Jarrett Carr and K-9 Deputy Brentley Patrick assisted with the investigation.
