Ronald “Ron” Eugene Martin

Ronald “Ron” Eugene Martin, 80, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Baptist Health Center in Corbin.

Ron was born on September 9, 1938 in Barbourville (Boone Height), Kentucky. He graduated Knox Central High School, attended Union College and Cumberland College prior to joining the National Guard.

He worked at National Standard for 36 years until their closure then with the State of Kentucky until retirement. He was an active member of Grace on the Hill Church and avid volunteer with the Church’s food pantry. He aspired to be the best Papaw to all his grandchildren and they will tell you he accomplished that goal.

He was preceded in death by parents Henry F. and Flora (Bond) Martin, two brothers Lowell Martin and Michael Martin, two sisters; Jean Donaldson and Gwendolyn Martin.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Goins) Martin; three sons, Earl “Chuck” Martin, Josh Martin and Jacob Martin; ten grandchildren, Lexi Warfield (Josh), Haley Wilson (Michael), Brandi, Jackalyn, Weslee and Desarae Martin, Logan, Mason, Natalie and Olivia Beall-Martin; four great grandchildren, MacKenzie Wilson, Neyland and Mia Warfield, Ava-Leigh Fisher; a brother, Gary Martin; four sisters, Sharon Israel (Hank), Carolyn McClure, Geraldine Martin, Rita Hronas and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers a donation is suggested to the Church’s food pantry, local veterans’ services or a charity of your choice in his honor.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, beginning at 12 noon at the Keavy DAV Park, 810 Laurel Lake Road, Keavy, Kentucky 40737.
