Rockholds Homemakers Club gathers chemo caps and afghans during August meeting for cancer patients
The Rockholds Homemakers Club recently held their August meeting at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
The hostesses this month were Opal Widener and Patty Siler. Casseroles and desserts were brought by members.
The members discussed the coming Whitley County Homemakers Kick Off that is scheduled for Friday, October 31st at 11 a.m. at the W.C. Extension Office on Hwy 25W in Williamsburg.
The theme this year will be “Ice Cream Social”. Each club will bring a $10 door prize. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served.
President Opal Widener installed the new officers which will take office at the September meeting. President Lib Bird, Vice President June Carter, Secretary Patty Siler, Treasurer Faye Logan, Devotional Leader Donna Webb, Recreational Leader Sharon Logan, and a new office called Arts and Crafts Leader Pam Clark. Pam asked members to volunteer to do demonstrations of an art or craft they know to share with the club.
Members brought in chemo caps and afghans to be donated to cancer patients.
The club also made out the yearly hostess and lesson leader sheets for the upcoming year.
Pam Clark will start the Arts and Crafts demonstration at the September meeting.
There were 16 members, three visitors, and three kids attending the meeting.
Recreational Leader Sharon Logan had a balloon dart game for the members to enjoy. Some balloons had prizes in them. After all the balloon busting, funa nd laughter, the meeting was adjourned.
Devotional Leader Donna Webb took her text from Proverbs 16:20. She challenged the club members to see what they could do to make them happy.
Prayer requests and the blessing on the food was given by Lib Bird. Everyone enjoyed the food and the fellowship.
