Rocked
Corbin’s Andrew Parks took on Mr. Basketball candidate Aaron Cash, going head to head with the 13th region star Tuesday night in Mt. Vernon.
If stats speak, then Parks got the better end of the deal, scoring 30 points and leading the Redhounds to a mild upset of the Rockets, 65-62.
Parks turned in one of his most gritty games of the year, clearly controlling the boards as well as the scoreboard.
Parks had plenty of help as senior runningmate, Jordan Noble had 22 points in the win.
The Rockets (13-10) took an early lead in the first quarter and led by as many as seven points in the first half. Rockcastle led 20-15 at the end of one and 32-27 at the half.
The Redhounds (13-9) took a 42-41 lead on a Noble three point goal.
The lead changed hands several times in the final period as Cash and Parks went head to head.
Back to back scores by Parks put the Redhounds ahead for good at 62-59 with 1:22 left. Cash had a chance to tie the game with :31 left but missed the first of two free throws.
A pair of Noble free throws with :20 left sealed the win. The Rockets had a chance to tie with 3.9 seconds by a long shot by Hurst missed.
